Part of the job of a couponing blogger are shopping trips. These trips are designed to get as much free or nearly free stuff as you can get. If you’re new to couponing you need to learn something that I still haven’t: Do your shopping early, preferably at the Sunday morning opening. This is a pretty good rule of thumb for any free or near free item that is being sought.
As I mentioned, i do not adhere to this rule. Sure, i have my excuses. The kids were sleeping or I’ll go after breakfast, etc. Well this usually ends with me not making it to CVS, Walgreen’s or Rite Aid until Wednesday or Thursday. This week my shopping trip was a Thursday event and as a result it went from a 2 mile trip to my nearest CVS to a 3 store tour of my town. Worst, i couldn’t get my free ThermaCare back heating pad.
Here’s what I bought:
1 Colgate Multipack (a 3 pack was the cheapest) of toothbrushes, regular price $4.89. I used a $1 OFF Colgate Coupon, add in the $2 ECB (extrabucks coupon) and i got 3 toothbrushes for $1.89 or 63 cents eat. A good deal, if not quite a great 1.
1 Gallon of Country Fresh Milk $2.49 – Get a $1 ECB. $1.49 gallons of milk are cheap here in Detroit area.
1 Alteril sleep aid shot $5.79. Not something i would normally buy, but I’m about to head to vegas and can always use some help falling asleep, when i’m on the road.
So I spent $3.38 for $13.36 worth of goods, including milk for an overall savings of $9.98. That’s almost 75% OFF.
